Design and Development of Modified Starch from Indonesian Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) for Enteric Film Coating Polymer Applications

The design and development of modified cassava starch from Indonesia for film enteric coating polymer applications were conducted in this study. was physically by heating at 70° to produce pregelatinized starch, followed chemically esterification phthalate. Pregelatinized phthalate formulated with variations concentration. results showed a lower solubility pH 1.2 higher alkaline where the optimum are shown formula 3 containing concentration 6 % plasticizer 50 total acidic (pH 1.2) medium 7.2) 11.42 %±2.06 38.91 %±2.23 %, respectively. highest tensile strength Young’s modulus also value 1.14±0.379 MPa 3.7×10-2±4.4×10-3. These suggest that has potential be utilized as controlled release good mechanical properties.
